Weston Village

The Weston Village BIA, established in 1979 is one of the oldest BIA's in Toronto. Situated in the North-West end of Toronto, close to the Humber River (please see map of BIA area) with its extensive bike trail and walking path, the village has a rich history and many historical buildings including the beautiful Weston Library.

Weston Village has a diverse mix of cultures and consists of an eclectic mix of over 160 businesses, including retail stores, restaurants representing a variety of cultural cuisines, and professional offices. Weston Village is well known for its Santa Claus Parade, which last year celebrated its 30th anniversary and takes place on the third Sunday in November each year. Equally well known is the very popular Weston Village Farmer's Market. Running from the middle of May to the end of October each year, the market is one of the main anchors of the village. More events are being planned for this year including the re-introduction of the Back to School Sidewalk Sale and Art Walk, scheduled for August 14 as well as many other fun events centered around the Farmer's Market.

This year, the Board of Directors is very busy planning Streetscape improvements, including, but not limited to:

-  new banners, featuring the penny farthing bicycle as the logo, in keeping with Weston's long history with the bicycle.
-  hanging planter boxes and soil upgrades to the in-ground cement planters.
-  already this year, the lighted, penny farthing bicycles, which adorn many of the Hydro poles in the area have been re-painted and relined with new rope lighting. This has made an enormous difference to the night - time allure of the area. - the street benches, many of which are damaged and/or need a fresh coat of paint will receive a much deserved face lift in the next couple of months.
