Michael J. McDonald - Former Chair and Beloved Friend

October 6, 2020

On behalf of the Board of the Weston Village BIA, it is with a heavy heart that I recieved the news, today, of the passing of our past chair and my dear friend, Michael McDonald, L.L.B.
We offer our sincerest condolences to his six wonderful daughters and their families. Family was everything to Michael and their love sustained him over his long illness.

Michael was a man of huge intellect, integrity, and wit and each member of our board, past and present, has their own special memories of Michael that can be shared on our social media. Please feel free to visit and share your memories of the great man we loved so well.

Rest in Peace, dear friend.

Weston Road Reconstruction - October 2020

October 6, 2020

Dear BIA Members,

Construction on Weston Road through our BIA continues. The overall project is ~40% complete, however, the construction within our BIA nears an end. Grascan is scheduled to continue and complete the curb, gutter, and sidewalk work from Lawrence Avenue West to King Street during the month of October. They will also continue the Hydro work between Lawrence Avenue West and Elesmere (East side).

All construction is to cease as of November 22, 2020 and will resume in February 28, 2021. The BIA will post an update on what remaining work is left for the month of November before the shutdown once we know more.

Should you have any questions, feel free to contact our office or the Public Consultation Unit on the above Construction Update Notice

City of Toronto Commercial Facade Program

The eligible improvements include, but are not limited to, brick cleaning, restoration, wheelchair accessibility, doors, signage, windows, lighting and masonry.

    • Your building must be located in a Business Improvement Area (BIA) that has been in existence for five (5) or more years
    • You must not owe outstanding taxes to the City
    • You must not start your improvement project before the funding application is approved
